Beauty and Bollywood are more like synonyms. From makeup tips to fashion trends, to fitness and style, looking up to our Bollywood actresses for inspiration is something we (well most of us!) do. But, there is more to these divas then their on-screen avatars. Just like us, they also go through a lot of skin-problems and thanks to the regular use of makeup even worse than us. So, what is their magic wand that helps them flaunt a perfect skin sans any makeup? Their kitchen! Yes! Our beautiful actresses have their favourite secret ingredients stocked-up that they religiously use in their skin-care regime.

‘Golden beauty rule: Before we begin, one rule that we women should abide by is the removal of all make-up and impurities before we go to sleep. That’s the best gift you can give to your skin after the obvious water (Drink at least 9-10 glasses of water everyday)

So, here are our 5 Bollywood divas, and a few fool-proof natural beauty concoctions they swear by:

#1 Aishwarya Rai
The epitome of beauty Aishwarya Rai Bachchan is a stunner not just on-screen but off-screen too. A face that is naturally beautiful sans makeup. Curious to know what’s her secret beauty ingredient? It’s none other than our age-old gram flour (besan). Aishwarya swears by besan to get that dewy glow on her face. Her fondness for besan is so much that she never forgets to pack it and take it along on her outdoor shoots also.

Aishwarya Rai’s face pack receipe: Take 2 tablespoons besan. 1 tablespoon turmeric (ambi haldi) and 2 tablespoons milk cream or raw milk. Mix besan with turmeric and add in milk cream. Apply this face on the face and neck. When it gets dry, gently scrub your face to take it off. This will exfoliate your face, and get rid of dead skin. Now, rinse off, and feel the visible difference. Use it on face once or twice a week.

#2 Madhuri Dixit

The dhak-dhak girl of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit, who still takes our breath away every time she shakes a leg on screen, is an ethereal beauty.
Madhuri has a glowing skin and she swears by the usual CTM routine, that is, Cleansing, Toning and Moisturising. According to Madhuri, moisturiser, is the key to a youthful radiant skin.

In an interview with Filmfare magazine, the actress divulged, ‘Every day I religiously wash my face with a cleanser and follow it up with a serum. Sometimes I use a toner depending on how my skin feels that day. Olay has a good toner. I use that and follow it with a night cream. Just like I brush my teeth twice a day, I follow my regimen twice a day – morning and night.’

Bonus hair-care tip by Madhuri Dixit: Mix olive oil and castor oil in equal proportions and apply to your hair and scalp. Your hair is ready to fight any weather. Conditioning is also an important part of hair care. You can use homemade conditioner made from mayonnaise, or banana or something fruity to get silky-smooth tresses.

Katrina’s secret ingredient: Applying mineral face packs. Katrina says, “Mud masks are said to draw out impurities and toxins, firm skin, and bring a rejuvenated glow by encouraging blood circulation.”

Kareena’s home remedy for skin: For our ‘Poo’, the best home remedy is honey. Honey helps to clean and softens the skin. She applies a thin layer of honey on her skin, massages it for a few minutes and then washes it off.

Kareena’s favourite skin-care tip: Having a glass of coconut water once a day is all you need to get that glowing skin. Bebo also drinks at least 6 glasses of boiled water every day.

Bonus tip: No matter how late you come home, always remove your make-up. You can mix pure coconut oil with olive oil/Johnson baby oil, smooth it over your skin and wipe it off with cotton wool.
